While this is Jaafar’s feature film debut, he is no stranger to the spotlight or the stage. He began playing the piano at 12 and grew to develop his talents as a singer and a dancer. Producer Graham King summed up the decision perfectly, saying they conducted a worldwide search but were ultimately “blown away by the way he organically personifies the spirit and personality of Michael.”

Dance and choreography is not only a cornerstone of Michael’s career it’s a major component of his life with Michael in his book Dancing the Dream writing “The faster I twirl, the more I am still inside. My dance is all motion without, all silence within.” Jaafar is embracing the immense responsibility of embodying a performer whose stage presence is still studied and revered globally, ensuring that the visual spectacle of his uncle’s music is perfectly preserved for a new generation.
